Part‑time GP Receptionist (15 hrs/week)

About the role

We are seeking a friendly and professional part‑time receptionist to join the front‑desk team at St Brycedale Surgery, a four‑partner GP practice in Kirkcaldy. Working 15 hours per week across three days, you will be the first point of contact for patients and will help ensure the practice runs smoothly.

Key responsibilities

• greet patients, answer telephone calls and manage the reception area during opening hours (8 am‑6 pm)
• schedule appointments, process prescription requests and handle general enquiries
• sign‑post patients to appropriate services and support the multidisciplinary team
• maintain accurate records while respecting patient confidentiality
• provide occasional extended‑hour coverage (until 6:45 pm) on a rotational basis

Required profile

• organised, proactive and reliable with a strong sense of responsibility
• excellent customer‑service attitude and the ability to work both independently and as part of a team
• capable of working accurately under pressure and paying close attention to detail
• flexible to cover staff absences, holidays and occasional overtime

Required skills

• effective verbal and written communication
• confidentiality awareness in a healthcare setting
• basic computer literacy; familiarity with GP clinical systems is a plus
