Part‑Time GP Receptionist (20 hrs/week)

About the role

We are seeking a part‑time receptionist to join St Brycedale Surgery, a four‑partner GP practice in Kirkcaldy, Fife. The role offers 20 hours per week with flexible scheduling between 8 am and 6 pm, including occasional extended shifts.

Key responsibilities

• Handle front‑desk duties, including greeting patients and managing phone calls.
• Schedule appointments, process prescription requests and respond to general enquiries.
• Sign‑post patients to appropriate services and support the multidisciplinary team.
• Maintain accurate records and ensure confidentiality of patient information.
• Use GP clinical systems to update patient data (advantageous).

Required profile

• Organised, proactive and responsible with strong customer‑service orientation.
• Excellent communication skills and ability to work both independently and as part of a team.
• Ability to work accurately under pressure, with attention to detail.
• Problem‑solver who can use initiative and maintain confidentiality.
• Flexibility to cover staff absences, holidays and occasional overtime.

Required skills

• Competency in GP clinical systems (e.g., EMIS, Vision) – advantageous.
• Previous experience dealing directly with the public.
• Medical or healthcare administration background preferred but not essential.
