Part‑time Music Teacher (Head of Music) – Independent School near Rye

About the role

This position is for a part‑time Music Teacher who will also act as Head of Music at an independent day and boarding school near Rye. The school values creative subjects and supports pupils with dyslexia and specific learning difficulties, offering a collaborative environment.

Key responsibilities

• Plan and deliver engaging music lessons across the curriculum, adapting content for learners with dyslexia and SpLD.
• Assess pupil progress, provide constructive feedback and ensure clear progression.
• Support and coordinate school ensembles, concerts, productions, services and whole‑school events.
• Collaborate with visiting peripatetic music teachers and communicate with families as needed.
• Take on pastoral duties, including Form Tutor responsibilities and participation in PSHE delivery.

Required profile

• Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) and a degree in Music.
• Proven experience teaching music, preferably in a specialist or inclusive setting.
• Ability to design inclusive lessons that meet the needs of pupils with dyslexia and SpLD.
• Strong organisational skills and willingness to contribute to the wider school community.
