About the role

We are looking for a friendly and reliable Optical Assistant to work part‑time on Fridays and Sundays in a well‑established independent practice in Kingston Upon Thames. The role focuses on delivering a high‑quality patient experience while supporting the optometrist and the wider team.

Key responsibilities

• Welcome customers and provide exceptional customer service.
• Carry out pre‑screening eye health checks.
• Hand over patients smoothly to the optometrist.
• Dispense spectacles, advise on lens options and assist with frame selection.
• Fit, adjust and repair spectacles.
• Provide contact‑lens teaching and support.
• Manage collections, after‑care appointments and administrative tasks accurately.

Required profile

• Previous experience working in an optical practice.
• Strong communication and customer‑service skills.
• Professional, positive attitude with great attention to detail.
• Organised and able to work independently.

• Optical dispensing.
• Spectacle fitting and adjustment.
• Contact‑lens fitting and education.
