Part‑time Sales Assistant – Retail (Chelmsford)

About the role

Join Topps Tiles as a part‑time Sales Assistant in Chelmsford, helping customers turn their tile projects into reality. You’ll work in a supportive, small team, using a consultative approach to guide shoppers without late‑evening shifts and with three days off at Christmas.

Key responsibilities

• Build lasting relationships with trade and retail customers through consultative sales.
• Ask targeted questions to understand needs and recommend the best tile products.
• Use creativity to inspire customers with colour, style, layout and design ideas.
• Drive sales by applying expert product knowledge and confidently closing transactions.
• Handle cash, process sales, and assist with stock replenishment, including lifting heavy boxes.

Required profile

• Outgoing, friendly and energetic personality.
• Age 21+ (or 20+ for lower hourly rate) and able to lift heavy items.
• No prior retail or tile experience required – training will be provided.
• Strong communication skills and a customer‑first attitude.
