Part‑Time Technical Manager – Calibration & UKAS Accreditation

About the role

This part‑time position offers an experienced Technical Manager the chance to lead a growing calibration business through UKAS accreditation. Working two days a week on‑site in the Essex office, you will combine technical expertise with quality‑management duties to ensure compliance with ISO/IEC 17025:2017.

Key responsibilities

• Lead and support the UKAS accreditation process for calibration services, especially autoclave and related equipment.
• Implement and maintain procedures derived from the existing Quality Manual.
• Conduct internal audits, oversee quality‑system implementation, and ensure ISO/IEC 17025:2017 compliance.
• Guide calibration activities involving time, temperature, and pressure measurements.
• Develop, review, and apply uncertainty budgets and perform drift analysis.
• Interpret EN ratios for inter‑laboratory comparisons and assess calibration data.
• Train, mentor, and motivate engineers with limited experience of the standard.

Required profile

• Strong working knowledge of ISO/IEC 17025:2017.
• Proven experience in calibration of time, temperature, and pressure equipment.
• Solid understanding of uncertainty budgets, drift analysis, and inter‑laboratory comparisons.
• Ability to audit, implement, and improve quality systems.
• Confidence in training and developing technical teams.
