Part‑Time Technical Manager – UKAS / ISO 17025

About the role

This part‑time position offers an experienced Technical Manager the chance to lead a growing calibration business through UKAS accreditation. Working two days a week on‑site in the Essex office (with remote flexibility), you will have a direct impact on quality and compliance for autoclave calibration services.

Key responsibilities

• Lead and support the UKAS accreditation process for calibration activities.
• Implement and maintain procedures based on the existing Quality Manual.
• Ensure compliance with ISO/IEC 17025:2017 requirements.
• Conduct internal audits and support quality‑system implementation.
• Oversee calibration of time, temperature and pressure equipment.
• Develop, review and apply uncertainty budgets.
• Interpret EN ratios for inter‑laboratory comparisons (ILCs).
• Perform drift analysis and guide corrective actions.
• Train, mentor and motivate engineers on the standard.

Required profile

• Strong working knowledge of ISO/IEC 17025:2017.
• Proven experience in calibration of time, temperature and pressure.
• Solid understanding of uncertainty budgets and drift analysis.
• Experience with inter‑laboratory comparisons and EN‑ratio interpretation.
• Ability to audit and implement quality systems effectively.
• Confidence in training and developing technical teams.
