Pastoral and Attendance Officer

About the role

The school is looking for a compassionate Pastoral and Attendance Officer to join its dedicated pastoral team. You will support student wellbeing, improve attendance and remove barriers to learning in a secondary school environment.

Key responsibilities

• Monitor daily attendance and punctuality, follow up unexplained absences and keep accurate records.
• Identify attendance trends and provide targeted support for persistent absence.
• Build positive relationships with students, families and staff to promote wellbeing and positive behaviour.
• Liaise with parents/carers, safeguarding staff, SEND teams and external agencies on pastoral concerns.
• Contribute to attendance meetings, intervention plans, reintegration programmes and produce reports for senior leaders.
• Maintain records using school management systems such as SIMS, Arbor or Bromcom.

Required profile

• Experience in pastoral care, attendance monitoring or school administration.
• Excellent communication and relationship‑building skills.
• Ability to work collaboratively with senior leaders, teachers and external partners.
• Commitment to safeguarding, confidentiality and GDPR compliance.

Required skills

• Proficiency with SIMS.
• Proficiency with Arbor.
• Proficiency with Bromcom.
