About the role
The school is seeking a Pastoral Lead and Designated Safeguarding Lead to support 11‑16 year‑old students with Autism Spectrum Condition. You will work closely with staff, families and the clinical team to create a safe, inclusive environment that enables pupils to access the national curriculum and achieve vocational qualifications.
Key responsibilities
- Develop and improve practice around behaviour management and safeguarding, ensuring policy implementation.
- Coordinate the Attendance Policy and provide rapid response when a child needs additional support.
- Monitor and report on students out of class and maintain a visible presence on site, especially during breaks and lunch.
- Liaise proactively with parents/carers and deliver relevant behaviour and safeguarding training through CPD.
- Support students struggling to engage with classes, working with the clinical team to re‑engage them.
- Provide data for senior leadership and governors, and ensure compliance for educational visits.
- Act as the school's LAC Designated Lead and coordinate whole‑school interventions for EHCPs.
Required profile
- GCSE English and Maths (grade 4/C or above).
- L3 qualification in working with children and young people (highly desirable).
- Qualifications in behavioural approaches or psychology (desirable).
- Experience working with children with SEMH/ASD.
- Strong understanding of safeguarding principles and child protection.
- Experience managing and de‑escalating challenging behaviours.
- Good knowledge of health and safety and data protection.

What we offer
- Annual salary £34,361‑£37,368 dependent on qualifications.
- £3,000 welcome bonus for candidates with SEN experience.
- Full‑time, term‑time only contract (40 hrs/week).
- On‑site role based at KT24 5JP, Leatherhead.
