Pastoral Support Officer – Secondary School

About the role

The Pastoral Support Officer will work within secondary schools in Enfield, providing dedicated wellbeing and pastoral care for students in Key Stages 3 and 4. This full‑time, long‑term position is ideal for individuals passionate about supporting young people’s personal development both inside and outside the classroom.

Key responsibilities

• Provide pastoral support to students across Key Stages 3 and 4.
• Build positive relationships with pupils, parents and staff.
• Support attendance, punctuality and behaviour initiatives.
• Assist students experiencing social, emotional or behavioural challenges.
• Develop and implement strategies that promote wellbeing and engagement.
• Liaise with safeguarding, SEN and pastoral teams to deliver targeted support.

Required profile

• Experience working with young people in schools or similar settings.
• Strong communication and relationship‑building abilities.
• Calm, empathetic and resilient approach.
• Confidence in managing challenging situations professionally.
• Genuine commitment to supporting students’ personal development.
• Knowledge of safeguarding procedures is desirable.
