Patient Services Coordinator

About the role

The Patient Services Coordinator is the first point of contact for patients accessing diagnostic imaging services at Medical Imaging Partnership. You will manage outpatient and diagnostic appointment scheduling, ensuring timely and appropriate care pathways for NHS and private patients across the South Coast.

Key responsibilities

• Act as the primary contact for all patient enquiries, both face‑to‑face and by telephone.
• Vet new referrals against departmental guidelines and schedule appointments according to clinical urgency and waiting times.
• Liaise with referrers, clinical and non‑clinical teams to agree mutually convenient appointment times, including urgent cases.
• Send appointment reminders and ensure patients receive all necessary pre‑appointment information.
• Provide a welcoming reception service, offering support such as interpreting where required.
• Communicate messages promptly to patients, visitors and staff, and cover telephone and off‑site reception duties.
• Escalate complex queries to the Team Leader or Line Manager and assist with investigations when needed.
• Maintain up‑to‑date knowledge of service rules and protocols to optimise clinical capacity utilisation.

Required profile

• In‑depth knowledge of outpatient and diagnostic scheduling procedures.
• Ability to liaise effectively with referrers, medical, nursing and health‑professional staff.
• Strong communication skills, both verbal and written, with a patient‑centred approach.
• Attention to detail and ability to follow departmental guidelines and policies.
• Experience handling confidential patient information in a healthcare setting.
