Payment Systems Specialist

About the role

We are seeking a Payment Systems Specialist to lead the strategic direction, operational performance and security of the payment ecosystem for two retail brands operating across roughly 800 locations. The role will own the end‑to‑end card payment infrastructure, act as the subject‑matter expert on fintech solutions and guide a small technical team to deliver resilient, compliant and commercially effective payment services.

Key responsibilities

• Own the end‑to‑end payment card processing environment across two brands and ~800 locations.
• Ensure high availability, resilience, performance and security of payment services.
• Maintain payment acceptance technologies: terminals, switching hosts, gateways, acquiring and loyalty integrations, mobile payment apps.
• Manage strategic relationships with third‑party suppliers and define SLAs, KPIs and contractual obligations.
• Lead supplier performance reviews, service improvement initiatives and critical incident escalations.
• Provide third‑line technical support and act as senior escalation point for complex incidents.
• Maintain operational procedures, technical documentation and support models.
• Ensure compliance with PCI DSS and P2PE standards.
• Lead payment‑related projects, coordinate stakeholders and manage risks, budgets and implementation activities.

Required profile

• Proven experience in payment processing and fintech environments.
• Strong technical architecture knowledge for card payment ecosystems.
• Demonstrated vendor management and supplier relationship skills.
• Hands‑on experience with PCI DSS and P2PE compliance.
• Ability to lead a small technical team and manage complex projects.
