Payroll Administrator

About the role

We are seeking an experienced Payroll Administrator to join a small, office‑based team of five covering payroll, HR and fleet. You will be responsible for processing end‑to‑end payrolls for around 260 employees across three weekly cycles and one monthly cycle.

Key responsibilities

• Process three weekly payrolls and one monthly payroll end‑to‑end for approximately 260 employees.
• Accurately capture data from paper timesheets and input it into the payroll system.
• Support the Senior Payroll Officer and gradually take ownership of payroll cycles.
• Handle employee payroll queries and resolve discrepancies promptly.
• Process statutory payments such as SSP, SMP and other deductions.
• Manage new starters, leavers and mid‑cycle changes to employee records.
• Ensure full compliance with HMRC regulations and payroll legislation.
• Maintain payroll records and provide general payroll administration support.

Required profile

• In‑house payroll experience – ability to run payroll end‑to‑end within an internal function.
• Proven experience handling full payroll cycles independently or with minimal supervision.
• Strong knowledge of HMRC regulations, statutory payments and payroll compliance.
• Excellent attention to detail when working with paper timesheets and manual data.
• Local to Alderley Edge or the surrounding area.
