Payroll and Finance Coordinator

About the role

We are looking for an organised finance professional with strong payroll experience to join a small, dedicated finance team in North Oxford. Working closely with the Finance Manager, you will own the end‑to‑end payroll process while supporting core transactional finance duties.

Key responsibilities

• Manage the full payroll cycle, including wage sheets, holiday and pension inputs, leaver processing and system uploads.
• Prepare and submit monthly statutory returns to HMRC, including apprenticeship levy calculations, and act as the main contact for pension providers.
• Handle end‑to‑end accounts payable: invoice coding, matching to delivery documents, statement reconciliations and vendor queries.
• Reconcile daily multi‑site sales sheets and cash/card receipts, performing daily and monthly bank reconciliations.
• Assist the Finance Manager with month‑end activities, providing data for stock tracking and balance‑sheet analysis.

Required profile

• Proven experience in a dedicated payroll administration role, preferably combined with accounts payable or ledger management.
• Exceptional numerical accuracy, high attention to detail and a proactive approach to resolving discrepancies.
• Trustworthy handling of confidential payroll and personal data.
• Strong communication skills for building relationships with internal managers, staff and external vendors.
• AAT Level 3 qualification or progress toward a professional accounting qualification is desirable.
