Payroll Assistant

About the role

We are looking for a Payroll Assistant to join our well‑established finance team in Rochester. This full‑time position offers a supportive environment where you can develop your payroll expertise while contributing to a busy, collaborative business.

Key responsibilities

• Process payroll accurately and meet all statutory deadlines.
• Respond to payroll queries from employees and internal stakeholders.
• Maintain up‑to‑date payroll records and system information.
• Assist with payroll reporting, reconciliations and related analysis.
• Support onboarding, leavers and any payroll changes.
• Provide ad‑hoc assistance to the wider finance team as required.

Required profile

• Previous experience in a payroll role.
• Good understanding of payroll processes and relevant legislation.
• Strong attention to detail and excellent organisational abilities.
• Confidence handling sensitive and confidential information.
• Proactive attitude with the ability to work independently.
