About the role

Join an established business in Hemel Hempstead as a Payroll Assistant. You will be responsible for the smooth running of weekly and monthly PAYE payrolls, reporting directly to the Payroll Manager in a supportive, open‑plan environment.

Key responsibilities

Prepare and process weekly and monthly payroll runs
Handle HMRC starter checklists, P45s and statutory payments (SMP, SSP, SPP, ShPP, SAP)
Process CIS payments where applicable
Chase timesheets and ensure data accuracy
Respond to pay queries and liaise with third‑party providers

Required profile

Experience with PAYE and CIS processing
Ability to calculate manual tax, National Insurance and pension contributions
Strong attention to detail and accuracy
Confident handling of pay queries under pressure

Intermediate Excel – pivot tables and lookups
