Payroll & Finance Assistant

About the role

The Payroll & Finance Assistant will work closely with the Payroll Manager to process weekly and monthly payrolls for multiple operating companies. The role also supports the Finance team by handling employee expenses and company credit‑card administration.

Key responsibilities

• Process weekly payroll: verify clocking reports, liaise with managers, import hours, ensure correct absence payments, and generate payroll reports.
• Produce monthly payroll and provide cover for the Payroll Manager during holidays.
• Process employee expense claims (manual forms and SAP Concur) and assist in updating the expenses policy.
• Manage company credit‑card queries, coordinate with Barclaycard, verify claims in SAP Concur, and help post credit‑card journals.
• Prepare monthly payroll journals, P11Ds and PSA for all companies.
• Support Finance with payroll apportionments and other employee‑related tasks.
• Undertake ad‑hoc duties as required.

Required profile

• GCSEs (A‑C) or equivalent, including English and Mathematics.
• Previous payroll experience with strong data‑entry accuracy.
• Meticulous attention to detail and a proactive, flexible attitude.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Self‑starter with a positive, customer‑focused approach.

Required skills

• Experience with payroll software/systems.
• Proficiency in SAP Concur.
• Good working knowledge of Microsoft Office applications.
• Familiarity with databases for data handling.
