Payroll Manager – Hybrid – 200 Employees

About the role

We are seeking a Payroll Manager to lead our payroll function for a growing Cornish business. Reporting to the Group Accountant, you will own end‑to‑end payroll for over 190 staff, combining salaried, hourly and shift‑based workers.

Key responsibilities

• Manage the full payroll cycle for 190+ employees.
• Ensure compliance with HMRC, pension and statutory requirements.
• Oversee payroll reporting, reconciliations and year‑end activities.
• Lead, develop and support a Payroll Officer.
• Collaborate with HR and Finance to maintain payroll accuracy.
• Identify and implement process improvements and system enhancements.
• Act as the primary payroll expert and point of contact for the business.

Required profile

• Proven experience in a complex UK payroll environment.
• Demonstrated ability to lead and develop a payroll team.
• Strong organisational and detail‑oriented approach.
• Excellent stakeholder management across finance and HR.
