Payroll Manager

About the role

We are partnering with a multi‑site practice to find a hands‑on Payroll Manager who will own end‑to‑end payroll operations across several locations, ensuring accuracy, compliance and excellent client service.

Key responsibilities

• Lead, coach and develop payroll staff to maintain high standards of accuracy and service.
• Oversee complex payroll processing, statutory compliance, audits and HMRC requirements.
• Build strong relationships and deliver tailored payroll solutions to a varied client base.
• Drive efficiency, automation and best practice across multi‑site operations.
• Ensure effective use of payroll systems, including Staffology, and champion continuous improvement.

Required profile

• Proven technical payroll expertise, preferably in a multi‑site or bureau environment.
• Strong leadership experience managing and developing payroll teams.
• Excellent client‑facing abilities with a diverse portfolio across sectors.
• Comfortable handling complex queries, statutory compliance, audits and process improvements.
• Proactive, solutions‑focused and able to work hands‑on when required.
• Strong organisational skills in a fast‑paced, multi‑site setting.
