Payroll Manager

About the role

We are looking for an experienced Payroll Manager to oversee the end‑to‑end payroll process for a fast‑growing business with around 450 employees. Reporting to the HR Manager, you will ensure payroll is accurate, compliant and delivered on time while supporting continuous improvement projects.

Key responsibilities

• Process and administer the monthly payroll for up to 450 employees.
• Enter payroll data accurately and meet all deadlines.
• Calculate and process statutory payments and deductions (SSP, SMP, tax, NI).
• Prepare and submit HMRC filings accurately and on schedule.
• Upload and maintain pension contribution information.
• Resolve payroll queries from employees and managers promptly.
• Maintain accurate payroll records and ensure compliance with legislation.
• Support HR Manager with payroll projects, process improvements and year‑end reporting.

Required profile

• Previous payroll administration experience, preferably managing a medium‑sized payroll.
• Strong knowledge of payroll legislation, HMRC requirements and statutory payments.
• Excellent attention to detail and accuracy.
• Strong organisational skills and ability to meet deadlines.
• Good communication and problem‑solving abilities.

Required skills

• IRIS Cascade (payroll software) – highly desirable.
