Payroll Officer (Temporary, Canterbury)

About the role

As a Payroll Officer in the not‑for‑profit sector, you will be based in Canterbury and responsible for ensuring employees are paid accurately and on time. This temporary role offers the chance to apply your payroll expertise within a supportive finance team.

Key responsibilities

• Prepare and process payroll accurately and promptly each pay period.
• Ensure compliance with statutory requirements, including tax and pension contributions.
• Maintain and update employee payroll records.
• Handle payroll queries and provide timely solutions.
• Collaborate with the finance team to reconcile payroll data.
• Generate and distribute payslips to staff.
• Assist with year‑end payroll processes and reporting.
• Maintain confidentiality and security of payroll information.

Required profile

• Experience in payroll processing and use of payroll systems.
• Knowledge of current payroll legislation and compliance requirements.
• Strong attention to detail and accuracy.
• Good organisational and time‑management abilities.
• Problem‑solving mindset and ability to handle queries effectively.

Required skills

• Proficiency with relevant accounting software.
• Competence in Microsoft Office, especially Excel.
