Payroll Specialist – 4 Day Working Week

About the role

We are seeking a Payroll Specialist to deliver a hands‑on payroll service for a portfolio of small to medium‑sized businesses. You will engage directly with clients, manage their payrolls, handle HMRC submissions and produce reports, all while enjoying the flexibility of a 4‑day working week.

Key responsibilities

• Provide full payroll services to client organisations.
• Engage with clients to understand payroll requirements and deliver solutions.
• Process payroll runs, ensure accurate submissions to HMRC and generate statutory reports.
• Maintain up‑to‑date payroll records and produce internal practice reports.
• Collaborate with internal team members for support and knowledge sharing.

Required profile

• Hands‑on experience delivering payroll within an accounting practice.
• Ability to work Monday‑Friday (8 am‑5:30 pm) with the option to compress hours into a 4‑day week.
• Qualified by experience in payroll practice rather than formal certification.
• Based in or willing to work in the Carlisle/Cumbria area.
