Payroll Specialist – Part‑time Fixed‑Term (12 months)

About the role

You will be responsible for delivering accurate, timely payroll for our UK teams on a part‑time, 12‑month fixed‑term basis. Working flexibly from our Hemel Hempstead office and home, you will ensure employees are paid correctly and compliantly while supporting payroll cycles and change initiatives.

Key responsibilities

• Run end‑to‑end monthly payroll cycles, including processing starters, leavers and changes.
• Manage statutory elements such as PAYE, NI, SSP, SMP, student loans, AEOs and pensions.
• Prepare payroll reconciliations, journals and reports for Finance, including year‑to‑date checks.
• Submit RTI files, handle HMRC correspondence and support year‑end tasks (P60, P11D).
• Respond to employee payroll queries with clear, empathetic communication.
• Maintain accurate records, ensure data hygiene and contribute to process improvements.

Required profile

• Accurate and organised payroll professional with a strong eye for detail.
• Confident using SAGE Payroll or a comparable payroll system and eager to learn new tools.
• Clear and respectful communicator, able to work under tight deadlines.
• Enjoys collaborating with HR and Finance and takes ownership of tasks from start to finish.
