Payroll Specialist – Public Sector

About the role
A large public sector organisation is seeking a Payroll Specialist on a permanent basis. Reporting directly to the Head of Payroll & Pensions, you will join a busy, high‑performing payroll team that values collaboration and high standards.
Key responsibilities
- Deliver end‑to‑end processing of a high‑volume monthly payroll.
- Administer statutory deductions such as SMP, SPP, NI and PAYE.
- Manage pension administration, including teachers’ pensions.
- Handle starter and leaver paperwork.
- Resolve payroll and pension‑related queries.
- Provide support to the wider team during absences.
Required profile
- Previous public‑sector experience is desirable but not essential.
