PE Teacher – Flexible Supply Roles in Middlesbrough

About the role

Tradewind Recruitment is looking for enthusiastic Physical Education teachers to provide supply cover across secondary schools in Middlesbrough. The role offers immediate start and the chance to work in a variety of school environments, delivering engaging PE lessons to students aged 11‑16 (and optionally 16‑18).

Key responsibilities

• Plan, prepare and deliver PE lessons for KS3 and KS4 (KS5 where required).
• Teach a broad range of sports and physical activities, both indoors and outdoors.
• Differentiate activities to meet the needs of pupils of all abilities.
• Assess pupil progress and give constructive feedback.
• Promote teamwork, resilience and sportsmanship.
• Manage classroom behaviour in line with school policies.
• Collaborate with department staff and pastoral teams.
• Support extracurricular clubs, fixtures and enrichment activities as needed.

Required profile

• Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or Qualified Teacher Learning and Skills (QTLS); strong FE or coaching experience may be considered.
• Experience teaching PE in a secondary school setting.
• Excellent subject knowledge and passion for physical education.
• Proactive, energetic and adaptable approach.
• Valid DBS check on the Update Service or willingness to obtain one.
• Two professional references covering the last two years.
