PE Teacher – Specialist Secondary School (SEMH & SEND)

About the role

We are seeking a passionate Physical Education Teacher to join Reddish Hall School, an independent specialist day school in Stockport. The role focuses on delivering an inclusive PE curriculum for pupils aged 11‑16 with social, emotional and mental health (SEMH) needs and additional SEND requirements.

Key responsibilities

• Plan and deliver engaging, differentiated PE lessons for Key Stages 3 and 4.
• Adapt activities to meet a wide range of SEMH and SEND needs, promoting confidence, resilience and teamwork.
• Assess, monitor and celebrate pupil progress, supporting accreditation where appropriate.
• Safely transport pupils to and from off‑site facilities, adhering to safeguarding, behaviour and health & safety procedures.
• Build positive, trauma‑informed relationships with pupils and contribute to school‑wide enrichment and sporting events.

Required profile

• Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or equivalent teaching qualification (e.g., PGCE).
• Experience teaching PE in a secondary setting or the ability to teach 11‑16 year olds.
• Strong understanding of SEMH and SEND, or a genuine passion for supporting young people with additional needs.
• Effective behaviour management skills and a calm, resilient approach.
• Valid driving licence and willingness to transport pupils as part of the role.

Required skills

• Curriculum planning and differentiation for diverse learners.
• Knowledge of health & safety and safeguarding procedures.
• Ability to assess and report pupil progress.

What we offer

• Permanent, term‑time only contract with a salary of £39,000 per annum.
• 37.5‑hour week, Monday‑Friday, 8:00 am‑4:00 pm.
