People Team Advisor

About the role

We are looking for an experienced People Team Advisor to join a dedicated People Team in Southampton. The role will act as the first point of contact for a wide range of people‑related queries, providing practical HR advice and ensuring managers feel supported.

Key responsibilities

• Provide day‑to‑day HR advice and guidance to managers and employees across the organisation.
• Support performance management, employee relations and disciplinary processes, including investigations.
• Administer sickness absence, wellbeing initiatives and contract amendments.
• Maintain accurate employee records and HR systems, and resolve payroll queries.
• Assist with recruitment and selection, ensuring best practice is followed.
• Analyse people data to identify trends and contribute to HR projects and process improvements.

Required profile

• Proven experience in a generalist HR role, advising managers on employee relations and operational matters.
• Minimum CIPD Level 3 (CIPD Level 5 desirable) and solid knowledge of UK employment legislation.
• Ability to interpret policy, challenge constructively and provide practical solutions.
• Strong communication skills, both written and verbal, with a customer‑service mindset.
