Personal Care Assistant – Specialist SEN School

About the role
We are looking for a compassionate Personal Care Assistant to join a specialist SEN school in Oldham. You will support pupils with a wide range of additional needs, helping them maintain dignity, wellbeing and independence throughout the school day.
Key responsibilities
- Provide personal care in line with individual care plans, including toileting, changing and hygiene support.
- Promote pupils’ privacy, dignity and independence at all times.
- Assist pupils with physical, sensory and complex learning needs to access the learning environment safely.
- Work closely with teaching, therapy and support staff to facilitate full participation in school activities.
- Follow safeguarding, health and safety, and care procedures.
- Maintain accurate records where required.
Required profile
- Previous experience in a care, support or personal care role.
- Understanding of dignity‑focused, person‑centred support.
- Ability to work effectively as part of a multidisciplinary team.
- Willingness to undergo safeguarding and pre‑employment checks, including an Enhanced DBS.
- Caring, patient, empathetic and reliable.
