Personal Care Assistant – Specialist SEN School (Oldham)

About the role
We are seeking a compassionate Personal Care Assistant to join a well‑established specialist SEN school in Oldham. You will work alongside teachers, therapists and support staff to ensure pupils with complex needs receive dignified, safe, and independent personal care throughout the school day.
Key responsibilities
- Provide personal care in line with individual care plans, including toileting, changing and hygiene support.
- Promote dignity, privacy and independence for each pupil.
- Assist pupils with physical disabilities, sensory impairments and complex learning needs.
- Collaborate with teaching staff, therapists and the wider support team.
- Follow safeguarding, health and safety, and school care procedures.
- Maintain accurate records where required.
- Support pupils to access learning, activities and the wider school environment safely and comfortably.
Required profile
- Previous experience in a care, support or personal care role.
- Understanding of person‑centred care and safeguarding principles.
- Compassionate, patient and empathetic with excellent communication skills.
- Reliable, flexible and able to work as part of a multidisciplinary team.
- Passionate about supporting children and young people with additional needs.
