About the role

We are seeking a passionate, student‑focused Personal Development Tutor to deliver the BPC Grow Personal Development Tutorial Programme. The role supports students in academic, personal and professional growth, contributing to wellbeing, engagement and employability throughout their time at the college.

Key responsibilities

  • Build strong, supportive relationships with a cohort of students, acting as a trusted point of contact.
  • Deliver engaging BPC Grow tutorial sessions, workshops and group activities using student‑led approaches.
  • Support students’ academic progress, wellbeing, confidence and personal development.
  • Monitor attendance and engagement, collaborating with teaching teams to drive improvement.
  • Act as first point of contact for safeguarding and wellbeing concerns, following procedures and signposting to specialist teams.
  • Provide tailored support for vulnerable learners, including serving as a keyworker for Children in Care and Care Leavers.
  • Liaise with teaching staff, Learning Managers and external agencies to ensure coordinated support.
  • Maintain accurate student records and contribute to data monitoring and reporting.
  • Assist students in planning progression routes, including employability and career‑focused activities.
  • Promote positive behaviour, inclusion and equality, diversity and inclusion in all interactions.
  • Contribute to a collaborative Student Experience team environment.

Required profile

  • GCSEs (or equivalent) in English and Maths (Grade A–C / 9–4).
  • Experience supporting young people in an educational or pastoral setting.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to motivate, engage and inspire students.
  • Knowledge of safeguarding responsibilities and professional boundaries.
  • Strong organisational skills with ability to manage competing priorities.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office and digital tools.
  • Collaborative attitude and commitment to an inclusive student experience.

What we offer

  • Permanent, term‑time only contract (37 hours per week).
  • Salary range £28,128 – £29,057 per year (confidential).
