Personal Tax Assistant Manager

About the role

TPF Recruitment is supporting a well‑established chartered accountancy firm in Maidenhead to hire a Personal Tax Assistant Manager. The role involves managing a diverse portfolio of private clients while supporting senior tax professionals and developing junior staff.

Key responsibilities

• Manage a portfolio of personal tax clients, including individuals, trusts and partnerships, ensuring compliance deadlines are met.
• Review personal tax returns prepared by junior team members, providing guidance and technical support.
• Prepare and oversee complex personal tax returns and computations.
• Build and maintain strong client relationships, acting as the primary point of contact for tax queries.
• Correspond with HMRC on behalf of clients and resolve technical enquiries.
• Identify tax planning opportunities and contribute to advisory projects.
• Coach, mentor and support the development of trainees and junior tax professionals.
• Collaborate with partners, managers and other advisers to deliver a seamless service.

Required profile

• ATT, ACA, ACCA and/or CTA qualification (or studying towards one).
• Previous experience in a personal tax team, preferably with supervisory responsibilities.
• Strong technical knowledge of UK personal tax legislation.
• Excellent organisational skills and ability to manage multiple priorities.
• Strong communication skills and confidence to build lasting client relationships.
• Proactive, team‑oriented attitude with a genuine interest in supporting junior staff.
