Personal Tax Senior – Private Client Tax

About the role

This position is for a Personal Tax Senior within a top‑15 accountancy firm’s Private Client tax team in Reading. Reporting to a Personal Tax Manager, you will coach junior staff, prepare and review personal tax returns, and provide advisory support to high‑net‑worth individuals and businesses.

Key responsibilities

• Process and submit personal tax returns, reviewing non‑complex returns to meet service and quality standards.
• Manage a portfolio of approximately 100‑120 clients, including HNWI, contractors, self‑employed, business owners and non‑residents.
• Assist with tax queries from expatriates, global mobility issues, and HMRC investigations.
• Handle tax relief claims such as entrepreneurs relief, VCT/EIS relief.
• Support wealthy families and entrepreneurs in reducing tax liabilities through efficient structures, trusts and wealth redistribution planning.
• Liaise directly with clients on personal tax matters, both by phone and in person.
• Oversee graduate‑level tax staff and ensure work is delivered on time, within budget and to firm quality standards.

Required profile

• Qualified tax professional (ATT, CTA, ACA or ACCA) with experience in personal tax.
• Proven ability to manage a small personal tax portfolio independently.
• Strong team working and relationship‑building skills.
• Ability to work under pressure while meeting deadlines and budget targets.
