Pest Control Technician

About the role

Southwark Council’s Pest Control Service is looking for a dedicated Pest Control Technician to deliver frontline pest management for residential, commercial and public spaces across the borough. You will inspect, investigate and treat a variety of pest infestations while providing advice to customers and internal teams.

Key responsibilities

• Carry out inspections, surveys and investigations to identify pest infestations and recommend treatment solutions.
• Deliver a range of pest control treatments and proofing works in line with legislation and best practice.
• Manage service requests independently, responding promptly to customer needs.
• Provide advice on pest prevention, environmental improvements and long‑term control measures.
• Maintain accurate records and use mobile technology for planning and compliance.
• Support additional duties such as stray‑dog collection, pigeon proofing and out‑of‑hours emergency call‑outs as part of a standby rota.

Required profile

• Qualified pest control professional (e.g., BPCA certification).
• Hands‑on experience in pest management across residential, commercial and public settings.
• Ability to work independently and manage own workload.
• Strong customer‑service orientation.

Required skills

• Knowledge of pest control legislation and industry best practice.
• Proficiency with mobile reporting tools.
