PHP Laravel Developer – Remote

About the role

Join a small, fast‑growing engineering team building one of the UK’s largest online marketplaces. As a remote PHP Laravel Developer you will design, develop and scale core platform services that handle millions of interactions daily.

Key responsibilities

• Modernise and extend the Laravel codebase.
• Build scalable backend services and RESTful APIs.
• Optimise SQL queries and design efficient database structures.
• Develop AI‑powered background services and internal tooling.
• Integrate third‑party services such as Stripe, AWS, Google Cloud and OpenAI.
• Improve caching, queueing and asynchronous processing using Redis and RabbitMQ.
• Contribute to the ongoing migration to AWS.
• Collaborate with product and engineering leaders to shape technical direction.

Required profile

• Minimum 2 years of commercial experience with Laravel.
• Strong proficiency in PHP 8+ and object‑oriented design.
• Experience building high‑traffic, reliable systems.
• Ability to work independently in a remote environment.
• Problem‑solving mindset and eagerness to improve architecture.
