Pipefitter – £40,016 + Shift Allowance

About the role

BAE Systems is seeking a skilled Pipefitter to fabricate and install pipework systems on high‑profile defence projects in Glasgow. The role involves working on both large and small‑bore pipework using a variety of materials and supporting shipboard utilities.

Key responsibilities

• Fabricate and install pipework systems using copper, carbon steel and stainless steel.
• Cut, bend and weld pipes with hand tools and mechanical equipment.
• Install shipboard utilities such as sinks, showers and toilets.
• Fit and assemble valves, fittings and related components according to drawings.
• Collaborate with other trades to ensure timely project completion.
• Maintain accurate work records and adhere to safety regulations.

Required profile

• Modern Apprenticeship or Trade Papers (SVQ3, City & Guilds or equivalent).
• Proven experience in pipe manufacture and installation on major projects.
• Ability to read engineering drawings, pipework diagrams and technical specifications.
• Understanding of SHE, COSHH and risk‑assessment requirements.
• Previous work as a pipefitter or similar trade in an industrial or commercial environment.

What we offer

• Salary £40,016 per annum plus a 33 % shift allowance where applicable.
• Shift patterns: days (Mon‑Thu 07:00‑16:30), nights (Mon‑Thu 20:30‑06:00) and weekends (Fri‑Sun 07:00‑19:30).
