Planner / Works Programmer

About the role

We are seeking an organised and proactive Planner to join our local repairs team in Milton Keynes. You will be the key link between residents, operatives and colleagues, ensuring that repair jobs are scheduled efficiently and completed to a high standard.

Key responsibilities

• Schedule operatives and subcontractors to maximise resource utilisation and meet repair deadlines.
• Monitor and update repair jobs daily, including appointments, follow‑on work and overdue tasks.
• Support the use of IT systems, ensuring operatives keep their PDAs up‑to‑date and rates are entered correctly.
• Communicate clearly with residents, operatives and stakeholders to keep everyone informed.
• Collaborate with administrators, supervisors and contractors for seamless service delivery.
• Cover for other planners when required and attend meetings or training sessions.
• Adhere to company policies, health and safety requirements and audit standards.
• Assist with reporting, KPI tracking and performance monitoring.
• Prioritise emergency and urgent jobs to minimise resident disruption.
• Maintain accurate records and documentation for compliance.
• Suggest improvements to planning and scheduling processes.
• Provide general administrative support and handle call‑centre enquiries.

Required profile

• Previous experience in a similar planning or scheduling role.
• GCSE (or equivalent) in English and Maths.
• Ability to thrive in a fast‑paced, pressurised environment.
• Strong IT aptitude with experience of job‑management and scheduling tools.
• Excellent time‑management, organisational and communication skills.
• Customer‑first attitude and ability to manage challenging situations.
• Knowledge of repairs and maintenance processes.
• Call‑centre experience.
• Experience scheduling multi‑trade repairs using an ICT appointing tool.

What we offer

• Annual salary up to £29,303.90.
• 25 days holiday per year.
• Full‑time permanent contract (42.5 hours/week, Monday‑Friday).
