Planning Engineer – Infrastructure Projects

About the role

Our client, a leading consultancy delivering large‑scale infrastructure programmes, is seeking a Planning Engineer to join its Project Planning team. You will work on high‑profile Water, Rail, Highways and Nuclear projects across the UK and Europe, supporting both public and private sector clients.

Key responsibilities

• Develop, maintain and update detailed project schedules using Primavera P6 and Microsoft Project, including Integrated Master Schedules.
• Collaborate with project managers, engineers, construction teams and clients to ensure accurate programme data and timely delivery.
• Establish and support Change Control processes throughout the project lifecycle.
• Produce regular progress reports, forecasts, dashboards and narrative updates, highlighting risks, issues and mitigation strategies.
• Support business development activities such as tender preparation, programme input and delivery strategy development.
• Carry out Earned Value Management, cost and resource loading, schedule performance analysis and programme health checks.

Required profile

• Proven experience as a Planning Engineer or Project Planner on complex infrastructure projects.
• Experience working within Water, Rail, Highways or Nuclear sectors.
• Ability to operate on multi‑disciplinary programmes across the UK and Europe.
• Strong analytical mindset and effective communication with diverse stakeholders.
