Planning Manager

About the role

Skanska UK PLC is seeking a Planning Manager to lead the site planning team on rail infrastructure projects. Based in Liverpool, you will shape the project programme, manage time risk and ensure the plan is trusted by both the project team and the customer.

Key responsibilities

• Develop a project‑specific planning approach that aligns with Skanska and client requirements.
• Lead, mentor and grow the project planning team.
• Establish a collaborative planning framework, delivering programme information through time chainage, 4D visualisation, short‑term planning and phasing diagrams.
• Analyse the programme to identify improvements, reduce risk and flag potential issues.
• Use programme insights to make strategic planning decisions.
• Conduct regular peer reviews, challenging the plan with planners and the wider project team.
• Partner with the project controls team to create adaptable, automated planning reports.

Required profile

• Significant planning experience with a Tier 1 infrastructure contractor.
• Proven experience using a range of planning methods and software.
• Hands‑on experience in a live rail environment and familiarity with Network Rail standards.
• Broad understanding of the construction market, all project stages, construction methods, plant, equipment and labour.
