Plant Controller

About the role

MSA Safety is seeking a Plant Controller to support plant managers in financial analysis, performance improvement and cost management across its manufacturing sites. The role will oversee month‑end and year‑end close, ensure compliance with local and international standards, and provide actionable insights to drive operational excellence.

Key responsibilities

• Support plant managers with plant analysis and performance improvement initiatives.
• Manage the plant month‑end and year‑end close process, ensuring compliance with standards.
• Control booking of plant operations in the ERP system and propose adjustments as needed.
• Perform cost analysis, identify root causes of variances and support teams to eliminate unfavorable deviations.
• Provide product costing and participate in SKU optimisation and cost‑reduction projects.
• Own the OPEX portion of the financial audit process.
• Participate in accounting and tax policy development.
• Review and analyse OPEX financial KPIs and factory cost performance, presenting results to EMEA management.
• Ensure internal controls, including SOX compliance, are followed.
• Prepare annual budgets, quarterly forecasts and support SAP implementation projects.

Required profile

• Qualified ACA, ACCA or CPA with several years of experience in a controlling role.
• Experience in a multinational accounts department, preferably within manufacturing.
• Ability to work autonomously in a dynamic, evolving environment.
• High quality output with strong attention to detail.

Required skills

• ERP system experience (mandatory for FICO and MM modules).
• SAP experience, including implementation projects.
• Knowledge of SOX internal controls.
• Cost analysis and product costing expertise.
