Plant Engineering Supervisor – Manufacturing Site

About the role

As a Plant Engineering Supervisor at 3M's Skelmersdale manufacturing site, you will lead the maintenance function to ensure equipment reliability, plant uptime, and safe operations. You will provide hands‑on leadership to technicians and contractors while partnering with production, quality, EHS and engineering teams.

Key responsibilities

• Lead and supervise daily maintenance activities for plant equipment, including automated work cells.
• Manage a team of maintenance technicians and a coordinator to deliver safe, effective, and timely maintenance.
• Oversee preventive, predictive, breakdown response and corrective maintenance execution.
• Prioritise work based on safety, production impact, equipment criticality and business needs.
• Support rapid troubleshooting, root‑cause investigations and reliability improvements.
• Drive improvements in equipment availability, mean time between failures and overall maintenance effectiveness.
• Coordinate plant shutdowns, planned work windows and contractor support activities.
• Ensure all tasks comply with site safety procedures and engineering standards.

Required profile

• Hands‑on leader with strong maintenance planning and fault‑finding experience in an industrial setting.
• Proven ability to manage and develop maintenance teams.
• Experience prioritising safety and production impact when scheduling work.
• Comfort working cross‑functionally with production, quality, EHS and engineering.
