Plant Fitter – Mechanical Specialist

About the role

Our client, a specialist engineering company, is expanding and requires an experienced Plant Fitter to support construction plant operations across the North East. The role is workshop‑based with regular site visits, focusing on hydraulic system installation, breakdown diagnosis and customer support.

Key responsibilities

• Install new hydraulic systems and commission plant equipment.
• Attend breakdowns, diagnose faults, propose solutions and carry out repairs.
• Provide technical support to customers and end‑users, ensuring accurate on‑site reporting.
• Maintain strong customer relationships and manage expectations.
• Travel independently across the North East, working both in the workshop and on site.

Required profile

• Proven experience as a plant fitter in a construction plant environment.
• Analytical approach to problem solving.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
• Ability to work and travel away from home independently.
• Full UK driving licence.
