Plant IT Engineer

About the role

This position is based at the Dagenham engine plant and focuses on keeping critical production IT systems running smoothly. As the Plant IT Engineer you will become the go‑to expert for Plant Floor System (PFS) applications, supporting daily manufacturing operations and driving continuous improvement.

Key responsibilities

• Lead the operation and support of Plant Floor System (PFS) applications on site.
• Act as subject‑matter expert for multiple PFS applications, delivering production support and practical enhancements.
• Manage and resolve critical incidents, collaborating with plant users, internal IT teams, global IT, and external suppliers.
• Support the rollout of infrastructure and application projects, ensuring robust delivery and adoption.
• Follow established IT processes, tools, methodologies and audit requirements.
• Create and maintain clear, compliant documentation for all plant IT systems.

Required profile

• Extensive experience delivering software in a manufacturing or production environment.
• Proven track record of keeping systems stable through configuration, deployment and ongoing support.
• Strong systems administration skills, including planned upgrades, patches and change management.
• Ability to prioritise workload, multitask and respond effectively to critical issues.
• Excellent communication skills for building relationships with internal teams and external suppliers.
• A degree or equivalent experience in IT or a related discipline.
