Plant Operator – Processing Plant

About the role

The Work Shop is seeking a Plant Operator to work on its IBAA processing site in Ringwood. You will operate mobile plant equipment, keep material flowing through the plant, and support metal recovery activities while working safely as part of a team.

Key responsibilities

• Patrol the plant to ensure uninterrupted material flow.
• Operate and maintain mobile equipment such as wheeled loaders, 360 loaders, screeners, crushers and magnets.
• Load tippers and metal lorries and assist with metal sorting.
• Carry out routine mechanical maintenance and troubleshoot operational issues.
• Perform plant inspections, housekeeping and keep the site tidy.
• Report safety concerns and take part in on‑site health and safety meetings.

Required profile

• Physically fit and comfortable working outdoors.
• Ability to work safely in a team environment.
• Willingness to contribute improvement ideas.
• Not suitable for individuals with pacemakers or metal implants due to magnetic equipment.

Required skills

• NPORS certification for wheeled loader operation (360 loader preferred).
• Experience with mechanical plant equipment such as screeners and crushers.
• Competence in mobile plant set‑up and operation.
• Ability to load tippers and metal lorries safely.
• Basic mechanical maintenance and troubleshooting skills.

What we offer

• Competitive hourly rate of £14.71 – £17.50, dependent on experience.
• Full‑time schedule: Monday‑Friday 6 am – 5 pm plus two Saturdays per month.
