Plant Quality Technician – Motorsport & Advanced Manufacturing

About the role

Fortescue is seeking a Plant Quality Technician to support quality activities in a fast‑paced production plant environment. You will work closely with programme management, engineering, manufacturing and the wider quality team to ensure that all products and received parts meet drawing and specification requirements.

Key responsibilities

• Serve as the on‑site quality point of contact for manufacturing operators on a multi‑shift basis.
• Perform in‑process quality checks and end‑of‑line sign‑offs, recording non‑conformances with full detail.
• Analyse and escalate high‑severity or recurring issues.
• Quarantine non‑conforming parts, raise NCR reports and manage triage decisions.
• Report inspection outcomes to stakeholders during daily stand‑ups.
• Administer calibration of production‑relevant tooling.
• Monitor and report foreign object debris (FOD) and train technicians on FOD reporting.
• Model Fortescue’s values in all interactions.

Required profile

• Experience in high‑performance, fast‑paced environments, preferably motorsport.
• Background in a quality role handling live electrical components or hazardous environments.
• Proven experience in a manufacturing/production plant setting.
• Ability to read technical documents, drawings and specifications, including GD&T.
• Knowledge of quality systems such as ISO 9001, IATF 16949, VDA, AS9100.
• Experience with problem‑solving tools (NCR, 8D, concessions) and internal audits.
• Strong communication and teamwork skills.
