Plater/Fabricator – Dayshift – £40k

About the role

We are seeking an experienced Plater/Fabricator to join the maintenance team at a newly‑established UK operation of a global energy and infrastructure manufacturer. The role is dayshift, based in Hartlepool, and offers a salary of around £40,000 per year plus excellent benefits.

Key responsibilities

• Fabricate and weld high‑quality metal components, structures and equipment to meet technical specifications and safety standards.
• Read and interpret engineering drawings, blueprints and weld symbols to determine project requirements.
• Provide welding and fabrication services for plant breakdowns, repairs, projects and routine equipment upkeep.
• Operate workshop machinery and hand tools safely.
• Inspect own work to maintain quality standards.

Required profile

• Proven experience as a Plater, Fabricator or Welder in a heavy‑engineering environment.
• NVQ or equivalent qualification in Fabrication and Welding.
• Ability to work with minimum supervision and strong attention to detail.

Required skills

• Electric arc welding.
• MIG welding (highly desirable).
• Reading engineering drawings and weld symbols.
