Platform Engineer (Data Platform)

About the role

ITV's Central Data Team builds and manages data processes that power analytics and machine learning, covering Platform Engineering, Data Engineering, Data Architecture, Data Governance and AI Innovation. The Data Platform Team builds and maintains the infrastructure behind the production, discovery and consumption of data, giving users the tools to work with data safely and efficiently. This is a hybrid role based in London or Manchester.

Key responsibilities

• Deliver the technical implementation of the data platform, working with product owners, architects and end users
• Work with Data Engineers to design, build and maintain data products that deliver analytical data to people and systems
• Solve challenging technical problems while keeping things simple
• Maintain a common set of tools and standards
• Empower Data Engineers, Data Scientists and Data Analysts to own the operation, performance and availability of data services
• Keep the platform secure, well governed and well managed
• Build new capabilities with self-service in mind and monitor the platform proactively

Required profile

• Experience using a scripting programming language (e.g. Python, Ruby)
• Passion for working in an agile, multidisciplinary DevOps team
• Team player who collaborates well and communicates clearly
• Analytical thinker who enjoys solving complex design challenges

Required skills

• Cloud infrastructure and platforms (ideally GCP)
• Infrastructure as code, containerisation, automation and monitoring tools
• Version control (Git)
• Highly available, highly scalable systems
• Data platforms and tooling in the data domain
• Unix-based OS (Mac/Linux)
