Platform Engineer

About the role

Join the platform team of the UK’s leading flat‑sharing marketplace as they transition to a cloud‑native architecture on Google Cloud Platform. You will help optimise, secure and scale the infrastructure that powers millions of users looking for rooms and housemates.

Key responsibilities

• Maintain the security, reliability and performance of the GCP‑based platform.
• Design, build and automate scalable cloud‑native infrastructure using Terraform.
• Develop and improve platform tooling and self‑service capabilities for internal teams.
• Collaborate with core developers to deliver infrastructure solutions that support product features.
• Participate in a paid on‑call rotation to ensure platform availability.

Required profile

• Strong experience with containerisation technologies such as Docker and Kubernetes.
• Deep knowledge of Linux operating systems, particularly Debian and RHEL/CentOS.
• Hands‑on experience with Google Cloud Platform; familiarity with AWS or Azure is a plus.
• Proficiency in Infrastructure as Code (Terraform) and configuration management tools.
• Ability to work collaboratively in a hybrid environment (on‑site Wednesdays & Thursdays).
