Platform Engineer / SRE

About the role

As a Platform Engineer / SRE at Murmuration you will design, build and operate the cloud infrastructure that powers the core platform used by credit unions. Reporting to the CTO, you will own the reliability, security and observability of a service that enables modern digital banking for community‑owned financial institutions.

Key responsibilities

• Design, implement and manage cloud infrastructure on AWS, Azure or GCP using infrastructure‑as‑code (Terraform).
• Build and maintain CI/CD pipelines that enable safe, frequent releases.
• Own observability across metrics, logs, tracing and alerts; define and report on SLOs and SLAs.
• Lead production reliability activities: on‑call rotation, incident response, post‑mortems, resilience and disaster‑recovery planning.
• Implement security controls covering secrets management, network security, identity & access, and compliance requirements such as PCI‑DSS and FCA.
• Automate manual processes and create self‑service tooling for engineering teams.
• Help shape the cloud and reliability strategy as one of the first engineers on the team.

Required profile

• Strong experience as a Platform Engineer, SRE or DevOps Engineer running production systems at scale.
• Hands‑on expertise with a major cloud provider and Terraform.
• Experience with containers (Docker) and orchestration (Kubernetes) and CI/CD tooling.
• Solid understanding of observability tooling and incident management.
• Good grasp of cloud security and operating in regulated environments.
• Automation‑first mindset and comfort owning reliability in an early‑stage company.

What we offer

• Salary £70,000 – £85,000 per year, depending on experience.
