Playcentre Manager

About the role

We are a well‑established, community‑rooted play and childcare setting in Brighton, rated Good by Ofsted. We are looking for an experienced Playcentre Manager to lead our team, maintain a safe, inspiring environment and drive the next phase of development.

Key responsibilities

• Lead and motivate a team of ~30 staff across playwork, early years and support roles.
• Conduct supervisions, appraisals and professional development planning.
• Oversee day‑to‑day operations, indoor and outdoor space maintenance and health & safety compliance.
• Act as Designated Safeguarding Lead, ensuring training and a safe environment for children.
• Manage the centre’s budget, monitor financial performance and pursue grants and contracts.
• Maintain and improve the Good Ofsted rating through self‑evaluation and quality planning.
• Build strong relationships with families, schools, community groups and represent the centre externally.

Required profile

• Proven senior leadership experience in early years, playwork or out‑of‑school childcare.
• Full and relevant Level 3 qualification.
• DSL qualification (or willingness to obtain).
• Demonstrated ability to manage budgets, staff and safeguarding responsibilities.
