PLC Software Engineer

About the role

We are looking for a PLC Software Engineer to develop, commission and support PLC code for our customers across the UK and internationally. You will work both independently and as part of multidisciplinary teams, managing tight project deadlines and occasional off‑site or weekend work.

Key responsibilities

• Develop PLC programs from engineering drawings or customer specifications using Rockwell tools.
• Perform onsite commissioning, I/O testing and system setup.
• Ensure compliance with functional safety standards and project budgets.
• Produce progress reports and communicate technical details to internal and external stakeholders.
• Collaborate with project management, engineering, installation teams and end‑users.
• Maintain health, safety and equality policies on all site visits.

Required profile

• Excellent spoken and written English.
• Strong time‑management and ability to work under pressure.
• Effective communication and presentation skills.
• Team‑oriented with a proactive attitude toward cross‑functional collaboration.

Required skills

• Rockwell RS Logix 5, 500 & 5000.
• Rockwell Studio 5000.
• Microsoft Excel, Word, Project (PowerPoint and Visio preferred).
• Ignition SCADA.
• Emulate 3D Experience.
• Knowledge of power and free conveyor systems.
• Automation, pneumatics, hydraulics, robotics and control‑system fundamentals.
